Update on the Roles and Mandates Review of the Provincially-Funded Research and Innovation System in the Province of Alberta.

In response to Premier Stelmach's mandate letter, Minister of Advanced Education and Technology Doug Horner has conducted a roles and mandates review of the provincially-funding research and innovation system in the Province of Alberta. It is anticipated that the work of the Alberta Agriculture Research Institute, the Alberta Forestry Research Institute and the Alberta Life Science Research Institute will be incorporated into the work of a new organization. Alberta Innovates - Bio Solutions Corporation will be initiated in Autumn, 2009. It is the intention of the three Institutes to continue working with our partners during this transitional period to meet the challenges and opportunities of our industry sectors.
