AARI envisions a thriving agriculture sector and bioeconomy through innovation in agriculture.

Mission
To align the direction and priority for strategic research in bioproducts, sustainable production and food for health. Successful innovation in research, development and deployment will serve to improve the quality of life for all Albertans.
Leadership
AARI was established by the Alberta Science and Research Authority Act and funds numerous projects each year that play a significant role in advancing Alberta's position as a global player in the agriculture and food sector. The members of the Board of Directors represent industry, government, producer, and academic facets of the agricultural community in Alberta. The AARI staff is comprised of a team of agricultural and administrative professionals.

To better connect industry players with researchers, AARI has three newly created networks:
- BioProducts
- Sustainable Production (Crops and Livestock)
- Agri-Health and Value-Added
Each area has an associated Network Leader who will monitor industry priorities and help to align research and development programs and projects to meet those goals.
