under review for extension
The Value Added Technology Transfer (VATT) program is financed by
the Canadian Adaptation and Rural Development Fund (CARDF) of Agriculture
and Agri-Food Canada. The Alberta component of CARDF is administered
by the Agriculture and Food Council of Alberta. The Alberta Agricultural
Research Institute (AARI) provides technical review and recommendations
for funding. The purpose of the VATT program is to fund projects that
help transfer new agri-food technology or products from research facilities
to Alberta's value added agri-food processing sector. Approved projects
are funded on a 50-50 cost shared basis with private sector partners.
The maximum amount the VATT program will contribute for a project
is $25,000.
Proposals eligible for funding are those designed
to:
- Test new agri-food technology, products or process improvements
to speed commercialization.
- Demonstrate the practical application or commercial feasibility
of proven new agri-food products, technology or packaging techniques.
- Evaluate, modify or adapt agri-food technology, products, and
packaging or processing methods developed elsewhere to meet the
needs of Alberta's value added agri-food processing sector.
In general, the commercialization of new knowledge,
products and technological innovations aimed at expanding value
added processing of Alberta's farm commodities for food and non-food
uses are eligible. When selecting projects, emphasis will be placed
on proposals that build on the results of completed scientific research.
Preference may be given to proposals involving small and medium
sized enterprises.
